IPOH: The Stroke Center at KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital has become the first private stroke centre to operate in the state, announced the Chief Minister of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
He stated that the centre is staffed with experienced and skilled medical experts specializing in stroke patient management, including Emergency Specialists, Neurology Specialists, Neurosurgery Specialists, Rehabilitation Specialists, and trained physiotherapists.
“In addition to being the first private stroke centre in the state, KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital has also become the first hospital to possess the Elekta Versa HD Linear Accelerator machine.
This machine’s capability enables more precise and faster cancer cell elimination,” he said.
He made this announcement during a press conference after launching the Stroke Center at KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital on Saturday.
Present at the event were the Chairman of the State Indian Human Resources, Health, and Social Affairs Committee, A Sivanesan, as well as the President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare Berhad, Chin Keat Chyuan.
Meanwhile, Saarani added that the state government is closely monitoring the development of the National Neuro-Robotic and Cybernetics Rehabilitation Center being developed by the Social Security Organization (PERKESO) in Meru Raya.
He explained that it will also serve as a one-stop centre for stroke rehabilitation, providing treatment not only to stroke patients in Perak but across Malaysia.
“Strokes, categorized as a cardiovascular disease, are the second leading cause of death in this country after heart diseases.
Considering the increasing number of private hospitals offering expertise in various specialized fields in Perak, our goal of making this state a health tourism hub is on the right track.
In Ipoh alone, there are seven private hospitals in operation, including KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital.
We anticipate the completion and operation of three more private hospitals shortly.
These include Sunway Medical Center in Tambun, Quill Medical Centre on Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah (currently under construction), and the newly opened Hospital Seri Botani just last March,” he said.
Chin Keat, on the other hand, mentioned that KPJ Ipoh has also launched state-of-the-art medical technology, the Elekta Versa HD Linear Accelerator (LINAC).
He explained that LINAC is an advanced linear accelerator technology used to provide the most precise and safe cancer treatment.
“This technology comes with the latest features, including 6D robotic beds, Surface Guided Catalyst HD, and the latest version of treatment planning systems called Monaco and Oncology, or ‘Mosaiq.’
We are committed to providing the best care to patients, especially stroke patients, with the introduction of the latest advanced technology.
We will continue to set new standards for patient safety, effectiveness, and clinical excellence while remaining true to our ‘Care For Life’ philosophy,” he said.
