GOPENG – A 51-year-old man sustained leg injuries when a trailer carrying flour overturned at kilometre 300.9 of the North-South Highway (PLUS) heading north, here today.
A spokesperson from the Perak branch of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) stated that members of the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station, were dispatched to the scene.
According to the spokesperson, they received a call regarding the incident at 8:59 in the morning.
“The operation commander reported that the accident involved a Volvo trailer transporting a load of flour, with a man trapped inside.
“A team of firefighters was directed to conduct the rescue operation and extricated the victim using specialized equipment. The victim was successfully freed but suffered leg injuries.
“He was then handed over to Ministry of Health Malaysia ambulance personnel for further treatment,” the spokesperson said on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) announced on their Facebook page that all lanes were closed for diversion work. However, contraflow lanes were activated at the scene, and traffic flow was moving slowly.
