20 tons of Malaysian humanitarian aid departed for Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR:The first flight carrying 20 tons of Malaysian humanitarian aid for the people of Palestine through OPS IHSAN departed last night.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, along with the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and several other colleagues, including the Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia and several other diplomats, were present at KLIA to witness the departure ceremony.

Zambry stated that this humanitarian aid will be flown to Al-Arish, Egypt, using a specially chartered aircraft by the Malaysian government.

“These humanitarian assistance items will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent as a cooperative partner to bring aid into Gaza through the Rafah border.

“I would like to express my utmost appreciation to the 50 NGOs and the staff of Wisma Putra who have worked tirelessly to make this mission a success,” he said in a statement on his Facebook.

He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Malaysia who have contributed in various ways to the people of Palestine.

“God willing, further aid will follow soon.

“May all our endeavors and sincere intentions be facilitated and to some extent alleviate the suffering of the people of Palestine,” he said.
