BEHRANG: About 600 students and 150 staff from Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah (PSAS) here are involved in volunteer activities during the ‘Outreach Program 1POLYCC, 1Community 2023’ in the Muallim district.
The program runs from October 26 to November 8 in the surrounding areas.
According to a PSAS spokesperson, the objective is to enable the Polytechnic and Community College (POLYCC) to support the local community and assist those in need with expertise and welfare.
“This program is a collaboration between Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, Tanjong Malim District Council, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Behrang, Masjid Al-Hidayah Behrang 2020, resident Taman Behrang 2020 and Rumah Nur Kasih Bistari.
“The Outreach Program 1POLYCC, 1Community is a manifestation of PSAS’s concern in providing tangible benefits to the Muallim community through volunteer activities.
“It also helps develop holistic Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) staff and students in various aspects of life.
“Additionally, this program is evidence of PSAS’s desire to integrate the Polytechnic into society so that the surrounding community can share facilities, expertise, and knowledge with PSAS members,” he said here today.
He further mentioned that PSAS student volunteers known as the Foundation for Malaysian Polytechnic Students Volunteers (YES!Polytechnic Malaysia), were established on July 15, 2011.
Some highlights of the program implemented since October include brightening the playground in Zone Cempaka Behrang 2020, maintaining air conditioning at SK Sungai Behrang, changing motorcycle engine oil, installing broadcast cameras at Masjid Al-Hidayah Behrang 2020, painting flower pots along the Slim River roadside, cleaning the Ujana Muallim Recreation Park in Proton City, an IT awareness program with Nur Kasih Bistari children and a mental health workshop.
