Ipoh – More than 3,000 residents of Ipoh took part in the Donut City Fun Walk @ Ipoh Low Carbon Day, covering a 5-kilometer route in conjunction with Ipoh Low Carbon Day (ILCD) in November 2023.
The event was themed around World Donut Economy Day, chosen to coincide with the global celebration on November 13, 2023.
The Secretary of the Ipoh City Council (MBI), Ahmad Munir Ishak mentioned that, to realize the Pelan Perak Sejahtera 2030, the Flagship Program is one of the initiatives aimed at transforming Ipoh into a Donut Economic City by 2027.
“The collaboration between MBI, Sunway Centre of Planetary Health (SCPH) at Sunway University, and Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR) came together to make the Program Flagship Perak Sejahtera a success, focusing on Ipoh as the Donut Economic City by 2027,” he explained.
“Across 27 locations in various countries, the Global Donut Economics Day festival was also held to unite the Donut Economy community worldwide.
“Furthermore, the event aims to promote Ipoh and Perak as Donut Economic Cities, enhance understanding of the Donut Economy concept, share best initiatives, achieve successful transformations, and build momentum for a prosperous future,” he added.
