Ipoh explores collaboration with Hatyai, Acheh to boost Muslim-friendly tourism

IPOH: The city of Ipoh takes a step forward in introducing Muslim-friendly tourism initiatives by signing Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with stakeholders.

Three MoUs were signed involving the Ipoh City Council (MBI).

The Muslim Tourism MoU involves MBI, Hatyai Municipality, Thailand, DPR Acheh, Indonesia and five local authorities, including the Alor Setar City Council, Kangar Municipal Council, Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council, Kampar District Council and Batu Gajah District Council.

Two additional agreements were signed between MBI and the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) and MBI with Malaysia Gazette.

These MoUs aim to promote Muslim-Friendly Tourism, the Visit Perak, Kedah, Perlis and Hatyai Year and contribute to the objectives of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT).

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Perak State Housing and Local Government Exco, Sandrea Ng and attended by the Director of the Centre for Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand (CIMT), Firdaus Dahlan and the Chairman of the Malaysian Copyright Protection Board (MACP), Dato’ M. Nasir.
