IPOH: The ‘Portable Drum Lifter’ project, introducing innovations in the handling and transportation of heavy drums, has been selected as the recipient of the Best Overall Project Award at the MEDspec 2023.
This method enhances work operations in terms of cost, time, and energy optimization.
MEDspec, or Mechanical Engineering Department Students’ Projects Exhibition and Competition, is a program aimed at showcasing the creative talents and innovations of students. It involved the participation of 335 students from the Mechanical Engineering Department at Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO).
A total of 89 student projects, spanning the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Mechatronics, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration, were presented and completed.
A total of 20 prize categories, with a cash prize pool of RM 3,500, were up for competition.
In addition to the Best Program Project Award, other prizes included categories such as Jury’s Choice Project, Best Innovative Project, and Best Overall Project at MEDSpec 2023.
The MEDspec 2023 program serves as a platform to encourage scientific critique, the sharing of research-based ideas, and design elements in engineering.
It aligns with fostering entrepreneurial principles in supporting PUO’s mission to produce holistic graduates competent in technology and entrepreneurship.
The student project assessment sessions were conducted by 20 judges from various industries.
