IPOH: Immediate action should be taken to repair the severely damaged Meru-Klebang connecting road here, which has affected road users.
The urgency was voiced by Manjoi State Assemblyman (ADUN), Hafez Sabri, who inspected the current condition of the road in question.
“I have personally inspected the repair work needed for the damaged surface of the Meru-Klebang connecting road.
“Immediate action should be taken by the authorities to repair the road before the situation worsens.
“I represent the local residents and road users here who strongly hope that prompt action will not only fix the damaged road but also thoroughly investigate the cause of the damage to prevent recurrence,” he said.
He added that the construction cost of the road amounted to RM7.2 million but it has already suffered damage even though it has only been open for five months.
Earlier, the media reported that the recent widespread damage to the road surface was due to underground water flow damaging the sub-grade and sub-base structures of the road.
Mayor, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, said continuous rain in early December caused the underground water flow to increase, weakening a significant portion of the sub-grade and sub-base layers along a 35-meter stretch.
