UPDATE: Case of Beruas MP’s burnt cars. Man arrested

IPOH: Following the recent car fire case involving the Member of Parliament for Beruas, the police have successfully arrested a man in the Shah Alam area, Selangor, today.

Perak Chief of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, stated that the arrest made around 4 am, also resulted in the seizure of two mobile phones.

“The arrested individual is in his 30s and has no previous criminal record.

“A remand application has been submitted, and remand has been granted for five days until January 16 for further investigation,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Yusri mentioned that the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which could lead to a prison sentence of up to 14 years and a fine if proven guilty.

He added that the police are urging the public with any information to contact investigating officer ASP Mohd Azalan Ab Karim at 019-3927837 to assist in the investigation.

Earlier, the media reported that three vehicles belonging to Member of Parliament Beruas, Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, were destroyed in a fire at his residence in Lorong Semarak Jaya, Taman Semarak Jaya, Ayer Tawar, early Wednesday morning.
