KUALA KANGSAR: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a man feared to have drowned while fishing at the Chenderoh Dam in Kampung Chenderoh continued into Saturday morning.
According to the Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the missing individual is identified as Muhammad Khairul Rusydan, 30.
Sabarodzi stated that the operation, involving 54 personnel, commenced at 8 a.m. It includes the participation of 11 firefighters, 5 police officers, 11 Civil Defence Force (Rela) members, 20 fishermen, as well as personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) (4).
“We received a call at 5:32 p.m. yesterday (Friday) regarding an incident where a boat capsized during a storm while two individuals were fishing.
“Firefighters from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene with assistance from the Lenggong Fire and Rescue Station (boat assistance).
“There were two victims; one of them was successfully rescued by nearby anglers, while another man drowned.
“The Water Rescue Team is at the scene for any possibilities,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
Regarding the morning operation, he mentioned that the SAR team involved multiple agencies.
Logistical support includes 2 firefighters, 12 fishermen, 2 TNB personnel, and 1 APM member.
“The operation resumed at 8 a.m., and coordination between teams is ongoing for the SAR work. Any latest information will be communicated shortly,” he added.
