The Salvation Army Malaysia held the launch of their annual Salvation Army Malaysia’s Chinese New Year (CNY) Appeal yesterday at their Ipoh Children’s Home, witnessed by Ipoh Timur MP YB Howard Lee and YB Goh See Hua, ADUN for Pasir Pinji.
The Salvation Army Malaysia runs a number of social service programmes all throughout Malaysia, including providing home and shelter for children as well as the aged. Since 1938, they have been providing care for the vulnerable and needy in various states across the country. This CNY Appeal, which is held throughout Malaysia but was launched at the Ipoh Children’s Home yesterday, aims to fundraise RM500,000 as part of their annual fundraising campaign.
To commemorate the continued support of YB Howard Lee and YB Goh See Hua, a lion dance performance by Shen Jai High School was held in welcome of them visiting the children’s home to witness the campaign’s launch. In addition, a 24 seasons drum performance by the Ipoh Drum Academy was also held. This would later be followed with a dance performance by the girls of the Ipoh Children’s Home.
After a welcome speech by Mr. Nigel Jones, the Director of Public Relations for the Salvation Army Regional Headquarters Malaysia and testimonial speech by Sister Elena Wong, YB Goh and YB Lee took to the mic to voice their support of the Salvation Army Malaysia, and the good works they do, in ensuring that the children that pass through their doors would enjoy success and happiness in their lives.
