IPOH: 1Lasam, Perak’s first building provisionally certified Platinum in the Green Building Index (GBI) grading system, has added another feather to its cap.
The progressive headquarters of Bonanza Venture Holdings (BVH) here has been acknowledged for its commitment in reducing greenhouse gas emissions at the 2023 Low Carbon City Awards.
Kinta Properties executive director Edwin Tan accepted the award on behalf of 1Lasam from Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad during the awards ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, 7 Feb 2024.
Organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), the event recognises local authorities, government agencies and private companies for their efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the Low Carbon Cities 2030 Challenge.
According to Tan, 1Lasam’s participation in the Low Carbon Cities 2030 Challenge was in part due to the encouragement of the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
“We are immensely grateful to MBI for motivating us to do this and for its guidance in the process.
“We have our eyes set on achieving a Diamond award in the year to come by further reducing our greenhouse gas emission after this,” said Tan.
Measuring about 30,000sqf, most of 1Lasam’s five-storey office block consists of workspaces with ancillary spaces such as conference rooms and gallery spaces.
Besides successfully fulfilling the assessment criteria of energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, sustainable site & planning management, material & resources, water efficiency, and innovation, 1 Lasam has also achieved eight of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations.
Besides the latest award, 1 Lasam has also won the Silver Award in the Sustainable Development Goal Category of the PAM Awards 2022 by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM); The Edge PAM – Green Excellence Award 2022; and was named winner of the Sustainable Commercial Development Malaysia category at the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2023/2024.
