Opinion Letter: Time to enforce parking rules at Taman Dr Seenivasagam

There was a statement quite some time ago by the former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that Malaysia has a first world infrastructure and a third world mentality.
Such a statement carries a lot of weight today when we see certain Malaysians violating the rule of common sense and courtesy when they park their cars wherever there is a convenient place without thinking about whether others will be able to reverse and move out of their parking area freely.
I observed this in Taman Dr Seenivasagam Ipoh lately, where cars are parked at the side of the road and also in spaces, where it is vital to keep it free and vacant for vehicle mobility.
There is general violation of parking ethics and rules at Taman Dr Seenivasagam and it is time authorities pay attention to the parking behaviors of visitors .
The recreation park which is visited by foreign and domestic tourists should be seen as a place of relaxation instead of a place of stress ,due to not being able to move their vehicles freely due to cars parked in places that are not approved.
Therefore the Association for Welfare ,Community and Dialogue (ACID) urges MBI to pay more attention to parking rules at Taman Dr Seenivasagam. We need to enforce discipline to ensure the recreation park’s image is not tarnished by irresponsible vehicle owners.
Designated parking areas are only places where cars should be parked.
