IPOH: The feeling is akin to riding a rocking boat!
That’s the sentiment expressed by residents of this city to Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic regarding the issue of the condition of Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab facing the entrance to Ipoh KTM Station.
The road, located opposite the iconic and historic Ipoh Town Hall and State Mosque, deserves attention.
This is because the concrete surface of the road has cracked, and the road structure is uneven.
It is understood that this matter should have received attention from the Perak State Public Works Department (JKR) as the road is in the heart of the city.
Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab is like the heart of Ipoh City as it connects to government offices, courts, as well as the Perak State Secretary’s Office (SUK Building).
A user who wished to be identified as Manohara said that the road should not be left in such a state because it is a major road in Ipoh.
She said that such conditions give a negative impression to visitors from outside.
“If you read on social media, many are commenting asking the authorities to take action to repair the damage,” she said.
Sales Director, David Choo, also believes that it is unacceptable for the road damage to be left unattended for so long without a response from the authorities.
“In fact, it doesn’t even need to go viral on social media because everyone is well aware of the condition of Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab.
“I believe every level of Ipoh residents have encountered potholes and uneven roads on this street. So, we shouldn’t wait for public complaints to take action,” he said.
