IPOH: Two local men aged 40 and 54 were arrested after being believed to be involved in drug distribution activities during a raid at a house in the Kampung Changkat Larang area, Lahat, here yesterday.
Police Chief of Ipoh District, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan, stated that the operation was conducted around 6 pm by a police team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the Ipoh District Police Headquarters.
“The resulting investigation of both suspects and inside the house revealed that the police found a package of rubber-banded plastic wrapping containing compressed bundles of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, five transparent plastic packets containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana (estimated total weight: 708.50 grams), three transparent plastic packets containing a substance suspected to be heroin (estimated total weight: 17.40 grams), and six transparent plastic packets containing a substance suspected to be methamphetamine (estimated total weight: 8.70 grams).
“The total value of the seized drugs is RM9,320, and it is estimated that this quantity of drugs could be used by approximately 1,000 drug addicts,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Yahaya stated that the case is being investigated under Section 39b of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 39a(1) of the ADB 1952.
“Both suspects have been remanded for seven days for further investigation.
“In addition, asset forfeiture actions have been taken against the suspects under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, with the seizure of cash totaling RM70 and a motorcycle with an estimated total value of RM10,000,” he said.
He said, according to the initial investigation, both suspects are believed to have been involved in drug distribution activities since early January this year, and the seized drugs are suspected to be intended for distribution in the local market around Ipoh.
