IPOH: The First Meeting of the Second Year of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly will commence for a five-day session starting next Friday.
The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, will grace the occasion to inaugurate the official opening ceremony of the State Legislative Assembly Session.
The Speaker of the Perak State Legislative Assembly, Dato’ Mohammad Zahir Dato’ Abdul Khalid, announced that 47 Members of the State Legislative Assembly would be allowed to debate.
“The debate period for government supporters and opposition leaders is 40 minutes each, while other speakers will have 20 minutes each.
“The wrapping-up session by State Executive Council Members according to their respective committees will take place on February 28th and each will be allotted 45 minutes.
“Meanwhile, the wrapping-up session by the Chief Minister on February 29th will last for 60 minutes,” he said.
In a related development, Mohammad Zahir mentioned that any amendments to Shariah criminal enactments in Perak must first obtain the consent of the Sultan of Perak.
“After obtaining consent, the matter needs to be discussed under the Perak State Shariah Law Drafting Committee.
“Subsequently, it will be brought to the Perak State Islamic Religious Council (MAIPk) conference and then debated in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) before being approved,” he explained.
