Bored! Ipoh Light & Sound: Repeating ‘Content’ and Only Half the Display Visible!!!

By: Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali

IPOH – “Bored! The repetitive ‘content’ of Ipoh Light & Sound is truly tedious, and the display only appears half complete… what is this?,” These were the complaints of Nur Aqilah Amira Mohd Zainuddin, 23, from Ipoh.

According to her, every visit to Ipoh Padang is hoped to bring new ‘content,’ but unfortunately, the story displayed remains the same year after year.

“Besides the old and boring ‘content,’ the most unfortunate and disappointing part is that only half of the display is visible, while the rest is all dark. Visitors don’t know what’s being shown. It’s really bad and embarrassing, especially for foreign tourists.

“People come here to have fun, not to sit and play with their phones. They might as well stay at home.

“The authorities must change to fresh and more engaging ‘content,’ such as stories by Mamat Khalid or diversify with English-language versions of cartoons like Kampung Boy so that foreign tourists can better understand.

“For two months, during the Visit Perak Year 2024, the ‘content’ hasn’t changed, and the display still appears incomplete. Also, on the notice board, it says the show starts at 9:00 PM, but it only begins at 9:20 PM,” she told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic when asked to comment after the Ipoh Light & Sound display at Ipoh Padang last night.

The Ipoh Padang development project involves the construction of a main screen for light and sound presentations (Projection Mapping System Light and Sound Project) at Ipoh Padang, allocating a total of RM3 million.

It is fully managed by the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) in collaboration with the Ipoh City Council (MBI). It was inaugurated on May 14, 2022, by the Chief Minister of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
