TAIPING: Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, graciously attended the Chinese New Year celebration at the state level in Perak at Dataran Warisan Taiping on Sunday.
Accompanying him was the Queen of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.
In the event that commenced at 2 pm, over 5,000 visitors from diverse backgrounds attended the festivities.
Also present were, Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa; Raja Puan Besar Perak, Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Shah; Raja Di Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah dan Raja Puan Muda Perak, Tunku Soraya Abdul Halim Muāadzam Shah.
The event was attended by the Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, and the State Government Executive Council.
The ceremony included the traditional Yee Sang tossing and the distribution of contributions to orphaned children.
Saarani, in his speech, stated that the gathering in the evening showcased the harmony and unity of the multiracial population.
He expressed hope that the universal values and principles would inspire the people to make 2024 a glorious year.
“I believe that with the spirit of harmony and togetherness among the people, along with the good cooperation between the state and federal governments, we can develop a peaceful and stable state,” he said.
