300 joined Program Kasih for Cervical Cancer Screening

MANJUNG: About 300 people attended the Program Kasih by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development’s (KPWKM) Gempur Cervical Cancer Screening (HPV DNA) at Pantai Manjung Hospital here recently.

Chairman of the Women, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneurship, and Cooperative Development Committee Perak, Salbiah Mohamed, stated that the program in conjunction with the 2024 National Cervical Cancer Awareness Month in the state of Perak aims to raise awareness among women to undergo early screenings

“The program serves as a reminder for women to undergo early screenings to prevent adverse effects.

“Congratulations to the Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) members, the Pantai Hospital team, and all those involved in organizing this program,” she said on her Facebook after attending to inaugurate the program.

According to her, through that program, 70 women underwent HPV DNA screening for cervical cancer.

“While 50 women registered for subsidized mammograms for breast cancer screening,” she said.

She emphasized that cervical cancer is a silent threat affecting women worldwide.

“However, early detection is the key to successful treatment and better outcomes.

“In Malaysia, it is the fourth most frequently detected cancer among women and the second most common in those aged 44 and below,” she said.
