Join Ipoh’s Chap Goh Mei Parade Tomorrow!

Wondering what’s happening in Old Town tomorrow evening? With road closures scheduled from 6 PM to 10 PM, it’s time to uncover the excitement that awaits.
Our streets are set to come alive on February 24, 2024, as we usher in the finale of Chinese New Year with a grand Cultural Night and Chap Goh Mei Parade. Organised by the Perak Chinese Assembly Hall (PCAH), this event promises an evening filled with entertainment, tradition, and community spirit, making it the perfect outing for families and friends alike.
What to Expect:
- Dragon Dance: Be amazed by the 516 feet long dragon dance, symbolising power, strength, and good luck for 2025
- Chingay (Large Flags): Marvel at the graceful and dynamic movements of performers carrying large flags, adding more color and vibrancy to the procession.
- Lion Dance: Experience the traditional lion dances, believed to bring prosperity and good fortune, as performers showcase their skill and agility.
- Traditional Chinese Musical Instruments and Kompang Ensemble: Enjoy enchanting melodies of traditional Chinese musical instruments and the rhythmic beats of the Kompang ensemble.
- Traditional Attire Contingent: Admire the beauty and elegance of traditional Chinese attire as participants showcase a stunning display of cultural heritage.
- Chinese Association Parade Contingent: Witness the unity and spirit of the community as various Chinese associations come together in colourful,festive attire with beautifully decorated vehicles.
Road Closures and Parade Route:
To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, several roads will be temporarily closed during the parade. The route will wind its way through Tun Sambanthan Road, Jalan Bandar Timah, Persiaran Bijeh Timah, Sultan Yussof Road, Dato Maharajalela Road, Jalan Bandar, S.P. Seenivasagam Road, Islamic Complex Road, Lim Bo Seng Road, and smaller roads along the Kinta River.
Once in Taman Dr Seenivasagam, the festivities will continue and will end the night with fireworks that will light up the town!
Please plan your travel accordingly and arrive early to secure a good viewing spot.
Event Schedule:
6:00 PM : Festivities begin with the arrival of parade participants and decorated vehicles.
7:00 PM : Parade commences.
8:45 PM : Parade contingents return to Ipoh Padang
9:00 PM : Cultural Night Program begins at Taman Dr. Seenivasagam.
10:15 PM : Event concludes with Fireworks
Important Note:
Residents of Ipoh, especially road users who are not attending the event, are advised to plan their routes accordingly and avoid using the affected roads from 6 PM to 10PM. Your cooperation ensures a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone
