Thick undergrowth like a jungle at Lengkok Pegoh

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Perhaps due to the hidden location, it has been overlooked for maintenance work.

However, this should not happen because the overgrown and dense area at Lengkok Pegoh near Jalan Regat Pegoh 4, Taman Pengkalan Jaya, is passed by vehicles every day.

Adjacent to Jalan Pasir Putih, this overgrown area shields the view of the residential area from the main road.

This raises questions among the local residents about who should be responsible for the cleaning work.

A resident, Arnie Jaafar, mentioned never seeing any cleaning work done on the overgrown area for several years.

According to the homemaker, wild plants have become so prolific that they cover the entire area.

“Look at these climbing plants reaching the electric poles, it looks like overgrown bushes in the village.

“I’ve also seen a large monitor lizard near the overgrown area, believed to have come from the nearby drain,” she said.

Another nearby resident, Andrew Tan, expressed uncertainty about whether the responsible authorities conduct patrols in the area.

“I understand that residential areas in Ipoh are numerous and extensive, so it’s not feasible to focus on just one area.

“But that is the duty of the authorities entrusted to ensure the beauty of Ipoh city, including the landscaping in residential areas,” he said.
