IPOH: An elderly man sustained fifth-degree burns after the vehicle he was driving caught fire on Jalan Hala Tasek Timur, Anjung Bercham, here today.
According to a spokesperson from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Perak, they received an emergency call at 8:26 am.
Subsequently, members from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene.
“The operation was led by PBK I Mahmud Azaddin Najamuddin along with team members who quickly arrived at the scene.
“Upon arrival, they found a car on fire involving an elderly man who suffered 70 percent fifth-degree burns.
“The fire had been extinguished by members of the public before the fire brigade arrived,” he said here today.
Therefore, he said, members of the Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) provided initial treatment to the victim and send him to the hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the fire and extent of the damage are still under investigation.
