Invention of Gelato Maker Emerges as Top Final Year Project

IPOH: A group of students from Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) succeeded in captivating the judges by winning the Best Project Award at the 2024 Student Final Year Project Competition and Exhibition for the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Medspec) 2024.

The GelatoCraft DreamMaker Machine project was developed by Muhamad Alif Anaqi Baharin, Abdul Muqsit Norfin Firmalis, Muhammad Zulhazman Mohd Hassan, and Muhammad Danial Aiman Baharul Fuadi.

All of them are final semester students of the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) program, and the project was supervised by lecturer, Anorasyidi Anwar.

Through this idea, they have created a user-friendly ice cream maker, producing a smoother ice cream texture while saving time.

Previously, the program was attended by 107 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering who presented 35 final-year projects.

It encompasses the fields of mechanical engineering, automotive, mechatronics, air conditioning, and refrigeration.

The Director of the Medspec 2024 Program, Mahani Mohd Zamberi, said it is a platform for final-year students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering to showcase their skills.

She said the judging for the MEDspec program is based on communication skills, social responsibility, project management, and entrepreneurial skills.

“A total of 15 prize categories with a cash prize totalling RM 3,500 are contested for the Best Program Project Award, Jury’s Choice Project Award, Best Innovation Project Award, and Overall Best Project Award for MEDSpec 2024,” she said.
