MANJUNG: More than 3,000 participants took part in the RHB WCE Century Ride held on the West Coast Expressway (WCE) here.
This inaugural event featured a route along the WCE, including the newly opened WCE Taiping South Section 11.
The competition was divided into four categories with cycling distances of 160 kilometres, 90 kilometres, 28 kilometres, and 14 kilometres.
WCE Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Alfred Felix expressed pride in the event, which aligns with the Visit Perak Year 2024 campaign.
“For the first time, participants enjoyed a new experience of cycling while taking in the scenic views along the WCE route.
“Support from thousands of cyclists from both local and international communities has been inspiring and demonstrates the spirit of unity and sportsmanship in the RHB WCE Century Ride 2024.
“The success of organizing the RHB WCE Century Ride 2024 marks a significant milestone for us since the opening of the WCE in 2019,” he said in a statement.
Earlier, the event was officiated by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Works Malaysia, Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, at the Lekir Toll Plaza.
