Lenggong – The Perak Agrotourism Carnival 2024 (PAC 2024) successfully gathered agrotourism entrepreneurs from across Perak, showcasing exclusive products and packages to over 10,000 visitors on its second day.
Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC) Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Yahanis Yahya, stated that the 70% discount on tourism packages offered by participating entrepreneurs has the potential to further enliven Perak’s tourism sector.
“Perak SADC also provides additional subsidies to encourage visitors and help boost sales and recognition of tourism entrepreneurs’ products.
“Given the tremendous response throughout PAC 2024, we are confident that PAC will become the premier exhibition brand for agrotourism holiday packages in future editions,” he said during his speech at the PAC 2024 Launch Ceremony at Tasek Raban Resort, Lenggong, yesterday.
PAC 2024, held from May 17-19, 2023, was officiated by the Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, who is also the Chairman of the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC).
Activities included kayaking, stand-up paddling, ziplining from the resort area down to Dataran Tasik Raban, rappelling from a bridge to the lake area, and hot air balloon rides.
The event also honoured local rock singer Dato’ Awie as Perak SADC’s Agrotourism Celebrity and launched the Kembara Blues Perak.
Yahanis Yahya added that the selection of Lenggong as this year’s host is fitting, given its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2012, making it the fourth in Malaysia and the 953rd in the world.
“Lenggong, recognized as the fourth National Geopark in December 2021, is now striving to achieve UNESCO Global Geopark status by 2025/2026.
“We also aim to make the PAC an annual event but will discuss this with the state government. If agreed, we will determine a suitable venue for PAC25,” he said.
