IPOH: A total of 13 illegal immigrants from Thailand were repatriated from the Langkap Immigration Detention Depot to their home country today.

According to the Director of the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Perak, Meor Hezbullah Meor Abd Malik, the transfer involved four men, eight women, and one other male.

He said all the illegal immigrants were aged between 17 and 44.

“The repatriation of the illegal immigrants to their home country was conducted through the land entry point of the Bukit Berapit Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Pengkalan Hulu.

“It was done after they had completed fines and prison sentences imposed by the Immigration PATI Court.

“Having been reasonably found to have committed various offenses under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963 and sentenced to repatriation to their home country under the same act and regulations,” he said in a media statement here today.

He said all repatriated illegal immigrants were also blacklisted to prevent them from re-entering the country.

He further said that the repatriation programme is part of continuous enforcement activities to curb illegal immigrants.

He said it is carried out by JIM Perak for detainees held at the Langkap Immigration Detention Depot.
