Man injured, diesel tanker destroyed by fire

Bagan Serai: A man was injured after the diesel storage tanker he was driving was destroyed by fire at the Gunung Semanggol Water Plant here today.

According to Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Assistant Director of Operations, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the victim, who is in his 40s, sustained injuries to his leg.

He stated that the fire department received a call regarding the incident at 11:54 AM, before personnel from the Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), assisted by the Alor Pongsu and Lembah Beriah Volunteer Firefighters, were dispatched to the location.

“A diesel storage tanker and eight diesel storage drum units were 90 percent destroyed by the fire.

“The driver, who was injured in the leg due to the fire, was taken to the hospital by his employer before the fire department arrived at the scene.

“The operations commander used two hose reel lines and one 100-foot line with a single jet until the fire was completely extinguished,” he said in a statement here today.

The operation, led by Senior Fire Officer II, Muhammad Khalid Mohd Idris, involved seven personnel and concluded at 12:59 PM.
