IPOH: Four individuals were arrested, and 26 motorcycles were seized during an Integrated Operation against Road Gangsters on Jalan Pasir Puteh near Station 18, early this morning.
According to Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, a total of 257 traffic summonses were also issued for various offenses.
He stated that the operation was conducted by the Ipoh District Police in collaboration with the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Perak.
“A total of 112 motorcycles and 110 people aged between 14 and 36 were inspected.
“Of the individuals examined, some of them were secondary school students from both public and private institutions.
“Twenty-six motorcycles were seized for various accessory or structural modifications under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).
“Four individuals were also arrested for reckless and dangerous motorcycle riding under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a media statement here today.
Added Abang Zainal Abidin, urine tests were also conducted on those involved, but the results were negative for any drug abuse.
He said the integrated operation involved 53 police officers and personnel, 16 volunteer police personnel, and six officers and personnel from AADK Perak.
