JCI Kinta to host “Climb to Change a Life”, to empower the differently abled community

by KT Leong

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kinta will be holding its upcoming event on June 16 from 7 am to 12.30 pm at Kledang Hill, Ipoh; entitled “Climb to Change a Life” (CTCAL), an event supported by the ZY Movement Foundation.

CTCAL was initiated and trademarked by the ZY Movement Foundation (ZMF) and is aimed at helping the differently abled community discover their true potential. In this event, participants with movement disabilities will climb to the summit of a hill under the assistance and companionship of volunteers known as “Life-Changers.”

Previously, CTCAL has been successfully organised by ZMF in collaboration with various organisations, for the benefit of numerous differently abled children aged 5 to 16 years old.

This year, JCI Kinta proudly continues this empowering tradition by organising CTCAL in Ipoh. Their goal is to support and inspire 10 differently abled individuals and engage 50 Life-Changers in this life-changing experience.

They will be honored with YB Steven Chaw Kam Foon, the State Assemblyman of Menglembu, gracing the event as Guests of Honor. The event will also be attended by Mr Walter Lee, the founder of ZY Movement Foundation, who has been a driving force behind this remarkable initiative.

Floyd Chin, the Organising Chairperson of JCI Kinta, shared the motivation behind hosting CTCAL, stating that “We believe in the potential of every individual, regardless of their physical abilities. Organising CTCAL aligns with JCI Kinta’s mission to create positive change in our community. We want to show them that their disabilities do not define their limits.”

Stephanie Hew, the 2024 JCI Kinta Local President, expresses her hopes for the event, stating that “Through CTCAL, we aim to foster a spirit of inclusion and empowerment within our community. This event not only benefits the differently abled community by boosting their confidence and independence but also inspires our volunteers, the Life-Changers, to see the world through a more compassionate and understanding lens.”

JCI Kinta are currently raising funds to support this meaningful event. Anyone who wishes to contribute to this initiative of empowering the differently abled community, are invited to reach out to Floyd Chin (CTCAL Organising Chairperson) at 016-5000447, or Stephanie Hew (2024 JCI Kinta Local President) at 012-5052926.
