MANJUNG: The newly appointed YDP of the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM), Muhammad Faizal Shah Safian Suri, officially assumed office today.
The appointment was made during a ceremony to swear in members of the MPM Council in the presence of the Perak State Housing and Local Government Executive Councillor, Sandrea Ng.
The event was also attended by the Manjung District Officer, Shamsul Ridzuan Idris, members of the Manjung District Legislative Assembly, and department heads.
Muhammad Faizal Shah replaces the former President, Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh, who has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Perak State Islamic Religious Council.
Syamsul Hazeman has led the MPM since April 2019.
Muhammad Faizal Shah, born in Ipoh, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Master’s degree in Land Administration and Development from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
He previously served as a Director at the Perak State Ministry of Rural Development and Regional Development Office.
Immediately after his appointment, Muhammad Faizal Shah proposed several plans, including preparing the MPM to become a City Council and ensuring that the MPM remains the best local authority at the state and national levels.
This includes emphasizing law enforcement and regulations and implementing effective measures towards achieving a Tourism and Maritime City by 2030.
