After a hiatus of six years from the stage, Ipoh Mali Theatre, in collaboration with the Perak Association For The Intellectually Disabled (PAFID), will be presenting the charity gala concert, ‘TRY TO REMEMBER’.
This year, they return with a fervent mission: to share and celebrate the rich legacy of musical theatre in honour of the late Mr. Chin Yoong Kim. In December 2022, Mr. Chin Yoong Kim was honoured in the farewell segment of the Boh Cameronian Awards as one of the late musical greats who had contributed to the music scene of Malaysia for the past 50 years.
Their cast will bring together Ipoh-born-and-bred talents from across three generations whose lives were touched by him. They have starred in acclaimed musical productions staged by the ACS Music & Drama Society, the Perak Society of Performing Arts (PSPA) and Ipoh Mali Theatre from the 1960s up to the present day.
‘TRY TO REMEMBER’ will be their 2nd collaborative effort with PAFID, the first one being in 2018, titled ‘CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY’. In 2016, the inaugural musical performance of Ipoh Mali Theatre, ‘MUSIC, WE THANK YOU’, was staged at WEIL Hotel, in aid of the needy pupils of ACS Ipoh. Mr. Chin Yoong Kim was actively involved in both earlier concerts.
‘TRY TO REMEMBER’ is open to the public with admission by donation only in the amounts of RM200, RM300, and RM500 for VIP Patrons. Contributions will directly benefit PAFID’s cause.
