IPOH: A total of 101 recipients were honored at the National Appreciation Ceremony for World Blood Donor Day 2024 at the State Secretary’s Banquet Hall, Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here.
The program was organized by the Transfusion Medicine Department of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) and the Perak State Health Department in collaboration with the National Blood Centre (PDN).
It received support from the Perak state government in conjunction with the 20th anniversary since its first celebration in 2004.
St John Ambulance Malaysia also participated as a strategic collaborative partner.
With the theme ‘World Blood Donor Day: Thank You Blood Donors’, the event aimed to highlight the importance of blood donors in raising awareness about their role in blood or plasma donation.
The ceremony also honored recipients across five categories: most apheresis blood donors, rare blood donors, and highest male and female blood donors.
Recognition was also given to the most committed blood donation campaign organizer throughout 2023-2024.
Earlier, the ceremony was inaugurated by the Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan.
