IPOH: The presence of a rather deep sinkhole in the parking area of Jalan Jaycee Park, Taman Canning here poses a danger to the public.
Recently, a reader of Ipoh Echo reported that their car’s tires nearly fell into the sinkhole while passing through the area.
Furthermore, the hidden nature of the sinkhole also endangers motorcyclists and pedestrians.
This is because the sizable hole could cause motorcyclists to fall and pedestrians to stumble.
The situation is more worrying when people pass through the area late at night.
A survey by Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic journalists at the location found wooden branches placed in the hole as a warning to the public.
Adjacent to the same path, another uncovered hole was also found.
From observations, it is possible that the tar covering the hole has worn away, leaving only an iron mesh.
Therefore, the authorities are urged to take this issue seriously to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
