IPOH: Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) has once again made a name for itself with the announcement that it is the overall champion at the Malaysian Polytechnic Territorial Army Annual Camp (MALPTAAC) Series 15/2024.

MALPTAAC 2024, held at Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, Perlis, is an annual Territorial Army training camp that is part of the polytechnic’s co-curriculum.

A total of 16 polytechnics participated with 29 officers and 609 members; comprising staff and students.

Additionally, the event involved participation from the 504 Territorial Army Regiment and the Army Reserve Division of the Ministry of Defence.

PUO led the other polytechnic Territorial Army teams by winning two events and securing second place in one event.

Series 15 of MALPTAAC included various activities and challenges such as rapid marching tests, archery, cross-country, and combat field training.

The prizes, including the Challenge Trophy, were presented by Dr. Zamzam Mohd Walid, Director of the Curriculum Division, Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education.

Earlier, the closing ceremony of the Malaysian Polytechnic Territorial Army Annual Camp (MALPTAAC) Series 15/2024 was held at Ladang Kenaf, Kangar, Perlis.

This programme was graced by the presence of the Acting Raja Perlis, Brigadier General Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who is also the Commander of the 504 Territorial Army Regiment.

Also in attendance were the Menteri Besar Perlis, Brigadier General (K) Mohd Shukri Ramli, who is also the Patron of the State of Perlis Territorial Army Support Committee, and the Assistant Commander of the Reserve Force, Major General Datuk Rahman A Wahab.
