P-hailing rider died in motorcycle crash

IPOH: A p-hailing rider died after being involved in a collision with another motorcycle on Jalan Perpaduan near the Dataran Perpaduan 3 junction on Wednesday evening.

E-hailing refers to public transport services while P-Hailing refers to delivery services of food or goods.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said the 26-year-old male victim was dead at the scene.

According to him, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when the victim exited the junction to turn right.

He said another 16-year-old male motorcycle rider was coming from the direction of Tambun heading towards Bercham.

“Due to the close distance, the teenager could not avoid the collision and struck the right side of the p-hailing motorcycle, causing him to veer off and fall in the middle of the road.

“At the same time, the p-hailing rider lost control and was dragged to the right shoulder of the road before falling.

“As a result of the collision, the p-hailing rider sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene,” he said in a statement here today.

Abang Zainal Abidin added that the teenager sustained minor injuries and both were sent to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for treatment and post-mortem.

Consequently, the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He further stated that witnesses to the accident are urged to contact the case investigating officer, Inspector Edwin Tang Chiew Song, at 016-5506863 or come forward to the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
