The 13th ASEAN Congress and 10th Perak Healthcare Congress, held from July 12 to 14, 2024, at the Kinta Riverfront Hotel in Ipoh, was a success.
Organised by the Perak Medical Practitioners’ Society, the Perak Association of Public Health Physicians, and the Family Medicine Specialists Association of Perak, with support from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the event gathered 350 participants, mostly medical practitioners, from Malaysia and neighbouring countries.”
The congress, themed ‘Embracing New Horizons in Primary Health Care,emphasised innovation and cooperation to improve health and well-being.
YB Dato’ Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni, Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia, inaugurated the event, stating, “The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical importance of a resilient primary health care system. We must integrate innovative approaches and foster collaboration across borders to build a more robust framework.”
Over 30 sessions featured nationally and internationally renowned speakers, discussing primary care and public health topics. The event included workshops on wound care and clinical case studies, along with an exhibition introducing the latest healthcare technologies and products.
The insights gained and partnerships forged here,” said Dr. G. Nantha Kumar, Organizing Chairman of the congress, “will undoubtedly shape the future of healthcare delivery in our communities, marking a significant milestone in Perak’s healthcare landscape.”
