KAMPAR: The widow of a rubber tapper and rubber plant entrepreneur, who tragically died in a road accident last year, is entitled to lifetime benefits from the Social Security Organization (Perkeso).
Roslan Pilus, the Deputy Director of Perak State Perkeso, stated that Jamaluddin Ohoh, 64, had been a contributor under the Self-Employment Social Security Act (Act 789) from December 30, 2022, to December 29, 2023.
“The late Jamaluddin was confirmed dead on September 13 last year, with the cause of death being coronary artery disease following an accident on Jalan Tanjung Tualang.
At the time, he was on his way home to Kampung Bukit Pekan, Kampar after completing work around 4 PM.
“His family received a one-time Funeral Management Benefit (FPM) of RM2,000, while his widow, Atiah Mat Esa, 68, is eligible for a Dependent’s Benefit (FOT) amounting to RM837 per month for life.
“This is because their three children are over 21 years old, based on contributions to the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS),” he said here today.
Roslan also presented the benefits and a care package of daily necessities to the family in Kampung Bukit Pekan on Thursday.
Additionally, Roslan mentioned that the contributions made by the deceased allowed his family to receive Perkeso benefits.
He added that this support helps the family’s livelihood after his passing.
“This situation highlights the importance of every working individual contributing to Perkeso.
“It not only prepares them to protect themselves but also ensures the welfare of their dependents in case of any misfortune,” he added.
