Nurulain Aspires to Excel in Beauty Industry and Own a Business

IPOH: Her dream is to one day own a spa and beauty business so that the knowledge she has acquired can be used as a key to success.
Thus, her recent victory at the Malaysia Polytechnic and Community College Skills Competition 2024 (POLYCCSKILLS) has strengthened Nurulain Mohd Tarmizi’s determination to go far in this field.
Representing Taiping Community College (KK Taiping), Nurulain emerged as the champion in the Beauty Therapy category, a competition that tests various skills.
Another participant from the same college, Nurul Syafiqah Md Radzi, secured third place, while the second place was won by KK Bayan Lepas, Penang.
The petite 19-year-old from Ipoh has always been passionate about beauty, leading her to pursue her studies at KK Taiping.
She believes that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) offers clear career paths.
“I chose to study at KK Taiping because the skill-based courses offered align with my long-time interest in beauty therapy and spa treatments.
“I love this field because it encompasses various areas such as massage, facial makeup, manicure, pedicure, and more.
“That’s why I enjoy and have fun in this field,” she said, currently in her third semester.
Discussing the challenges she faced during the POLYCCSKILLS competition, she mentioned that the tasks were difficult and the time given was very limited.
“I had to be quick to meet the time constraints. We had only three hours for facial and body treatments, and another three hours for manicure and makeup art on the following day.
“Many people encouraged me, saying that I would win, including my lecturers and friends. God willing, I managed to secure first place,” said the fourth of six siblings.
Nurulain has clear plans for her future. She aims to work in the beauty industry immediately after graduation, either as a makeup artist or in a spa.
With work experience, she dreams of pursuing higher education and eventually starting her own business when she is ready.
