Woman Killed After Motorcycle Hits Pothole and Run Over by Car

IPOH: A woman was tragically killed on Wednesday after losing control of her motorcycle upon hitting a pothole on the roadside, before being run over by a car near Jalan Ipoh-Lumut.

Ipoh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad reported that the incident occurred at approximately 1:05 PM.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the Emergency Ward of Batu Gajah General Hospital.

“The 18-year-old victim was involved in an accident with a car. Preliminary investigations found that the road accident occurred when the victim, who was riding a motorcycle from Ipoh to Batu Gajah, hit a pothole on the left shoulder of the road, lost control, and collided with the front left fender of a car traveling in the same direction.

“The car, driven by a 40-year-old was believed to have been run over by the car.

“As a result of the collision, the victim was taken to Batu Gajah General Hospital for treatment and was confirmed dead due to internal injuries and severe injuries to her right thigh.

“The car driver did not suffer any injuries,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (causing death by reckless or dangerous driving).

He also urged anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Syafiq Fauze, at 0136713177 or visit the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
