MANJUNG: A total of 49 individuals were arrested for various drug-related offenses during a special operation, Ops Tapis, conducted from July 22 to July 24, 2024.
According to a statement by IPD Manjung, the special operation was carried out by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of Manjung District.
“A total of 49 individuals were arrested for various drug-related offenses, including supplying, possessing, and using drugs during Ops Tapis.
“This operation targeted high-risk areas within the jurisdiction of IPD Manjung,” the statement said.
The statement further detailed that eight suspects were charged under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952 and Section 39A(1) of the DDA 1952.
“32 suspects were charged under Section 12(2) of the DDA 1952, and nine suspects were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the DDA 1952,” it added.
The statement also mentioned that the operation will continue to be intensified in the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities.
“The operation focuses on drug distribution and abuse activities, especially in areas frequented by drug addicts,” it said.
