IPOH: Just as the country is grappling with bullying issues, a new case has been reported at a secondary school in Ipoh.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Azizi Mat Aris, stated that on July 24, they received a police report from a Form 1 student who claimed to have been assaulted by Form 4 and Form 5 students.
“The victim sustained injuries to several parts of his body.
“The victim also received outpatient treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB),” he said in a statement tonight.
Azizi added that acting on information, police today arrested five male students aged 16 and 17 to assist with the investigation.
“Further investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident and to identify other suspects involved,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
“The investigation is ongoing, and the statements of the involved witnesses will be recorded,” he said.
He added that the case has been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
“All suspects were given a stern warning and released this evening,” he said.
