IPOH: The Karate Do Shito Kai Ryu Club, Ipoh celebrated its 10th anniversary with a ceremony held at the Kampung Tawas Community Hall, Tasek.
Since its establishment, this Japanese martial arts club has trained many young enthusiasts eager to learn karate.
Today, the Karate Do Shito Kai Ryu Club is one of the most active martial arts clubs, also heavily involved in youth-oriented programs.
The event was graced by the presence of the Bercham State Assemblyman, Ong Boon Piow, who officiated the program.
He also presented contributions to the Karate Do Shito Kai Ryu Club, Ipoh.
Other notable attendees included Ipoh City Council Member Ramesh Subramaniam and the Chairman of the Kinta Indian Welfare, Social, Sports, and Cultural Association, P. Uvarajan.
Ramesh and Uvarajan also presented their respective contributions to the club.
Also present were former state football player A. Selvaraju, Tasek Residents’ Representative Committee Chairman Rajkumar, and Taman Rishah Neighbourhood Watch Chairman B. Jayaprakash.
Guests were treated to karate demonstrations by the participants.
Meanwhile, the chairman and coach of the Karate Do Shito Kai Ryu Club, Ipoh, Arunajalam Rengasamy, said the event was a gesture of appreciation to those who have supported the club directly or indirectly.
He also expressed gratitude to the Bercham State Assemblyman and other distinguished guests for their continuous support of the club’s activities.
Arunajalam also announced that the club would be organizing a karate tournament at the end of this year, involving teams from within and outside the state of Perak.
