IPOH: Sunway City Ipoh, the new township here, is set to gain a major attraction with the completion of Sunway Ipoh Mall, the largest shopping centre in Perak, in three years.
This development is transforming Jalan Tambun, which is experiencing rapid growth.
With an investment of over RM1 billion, Sunway Ipoh Mall, spanning over one million square feet, will offer a range of attractions to visitors.
Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah, founder and chairman of Sunway Group, expressed pride in contributing to the development of the area as part of the Ipoh East Development Corridor.
According to Cheah, Sunway City Ipoh, covering 1,350 acres, is the largest integrated township in Perak with a gross development value (GDV) of approximately RM2 billion.
“An additional RM4 billion in GDV is projected over the next 10-15 years.
“As a growth catalyst for the East Ipoh Development Corridor, this development will create more local job opportunities and generate potential economic spillover effects,” he said.
Cheah made these remarks at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Sunway Mall Ipoh, attended by Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
Also present were Perak State Industry, Investment, and Corridor Development Exco Loh Sze Yee and Perak State Economic Development Corporation CEO Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak.
The mall will feature four floors of retail space, Perak’s first ice skating rink, and an exhibition centre.
Other attractions include a 36-lane bowling centre, a multi-purpose sports centre, a food court, and a 10-screen cinema with a total capacity of about 1,500 seats.
