IPOH: A total of 1,765 new students have officially enrolled at Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This enrollment sets a new record, making PUO the institution with the highest number of students in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs among polytechnics and community colleges nationwide.
Of the total, 1,629 students are enrolled in 17 diploma programs, and 123 students in the Foundation in Engineering Technology program.
The remaining 13 students are part of the Construction Skills Certificate Program designed for students with disabilities.
PUO Director Dr. Shamsuri Abdullah stated that this achievement reflects the community’s confidence in the conducive learning environment and the quality of TVET education offered at PUO.
Previously, the closing ceremony of the New Student Orientation Week was held on campus, attended by PUO Deputy Director (Academic) Norman Zamri, representing the director.
He emphasized the importance of integration and cooperation among new students to help them adapt.
