IPOH: The role of the local community in ensuring residents care about their health and adopt a healthy lifestyle is very important.
This also demonstrates unity within the community as they look out for each other.
This was exemplified by the Taman Rishah 1B Neighbourhood Watch (KRT) Club when they organized the My Champion Community Wellness On Wheel program at the residential area’s field.
It was held in collaboration with the Taman Rishah Residents’ Association.
Its chairman, B. Jayaprakash, said more than 100 residents attended the program and took the opportunity to access various services provided.
He said Wellness On Wheel (WOW) is a mobile health wellness service that makes it easier for families to access these services.
“The WOW mobile service is a government initiative that provides interactive and engaging services such as health risk assessments.
“Health personnel present also offered advice on healthy living, conducted lecture sessions, interactive games, and exhibitions,” he said.
Also conducted were health checks for blood pressure, sugar levels, and cholesterol by Klinik Kesihatan Buntong, as well as exhibitions on dengue and food poisoning awareness.
- Several government agencies also set up exhibition booths, including the Social Security Organization (SOCSO), the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), and the Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga (TEKUN).
The program was further enlivened with side events such as children’s coloring contests, communal activities, and lucky draws.
