TELUK INTAN: Police have confirmed the identity of a 28-year-old local man whose body was found burnt in a car crash on Km 24 Teluk Intan-Bidor Road last night.
According to Hilir Perak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Adnan Basri, the identity was determined through an autopsy and identification by the victim’s father this morning.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim was driving a Honda City from Teluk Intan to Bidor.
“We received information about the accident at 11:10 PM on Monday.
“The investigation found that the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered into the opposite lane, and crashed into a ditch, causing the car to overturn and catch fire.
“The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes by the fire department. The victim was found burnt inside the car,” he said in a statement here today.
Ahmad Adnan added that the victim, who suffered burns over his entire body, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The body was sent to the Forensic Unit at Teluk Intan Hospital at around 12:10 AM on Tuesday for identification and an autopsy.
“The identification was made by the victim’s father,” he added.
He also mentioned that the police would send the vehicle for inspection by Puspakom.
He added, the road accident investigation is being carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
“The public with any information related to the incident are urged to assist in the investigation by contacting Traffic Investigation Officer, Inspector Muhammad Syamil Abd Manan, at 011-10065817,” he said.
Earlier, the media reported that an unidentified individual was burnt to death after the Honda City they were driving crashed into a ditch and caught fire, resulting in 98% of the car being burnt.
