IPOH: Food courts are not only essential for dining but also for socializing and boosting the local economy.

To keep this location appealing, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) has taken the initiative to upgrade the Cherry Tree Food Court, similar to what was done at the Jalan Jelapang Food Court.

This project, costing RM482,200, is funded by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

The upgrades include a new roof, renovated stall interiors, electrical wiring, building painting, and the installation of dining chairs and tables.

Additionally, the stalls’ doors have been replaced, floor tiles installed, and other related works have been completed, aligning with the Madani Stall Project Scope.

The old Jalan Jelapang Food Court is located next to the new one, locally known as the Cherry Tree Food Court due to the cherry trees planted there.

Following the upgrades, both food courts have been rebranded as the Cherry Tree Business Center, presenting a new image for the Madani Stalls.

This new business center not only offers a more comfortable and modern atmosphere but is also equipped with better facilities.

These improvements ensure higher cleanliness standards, in line with public health guidelines.

MBI also intends to seek additional funding from the ministry to further upgrade the new Jalan Jelapang Food Court, aiming to enhance the quality and facilities available.

The project is expected to attract more visitors, positively impacting the local economy.

Earlier, the new food court was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud.
