IPOH: Complaints regarding the accumulation of trash collected and piled up in the yard of a house near No. 56, Persiaran Cempaka Sari 24, Taman Cempaka, have previously been reported by Ipoh Echo and Perak Tastic.

The issue of a 70-year-old elderly woman who regularly hoards trash seems to be ongoing.

In fact, according to one of the complainants, the trash—which includes plastic, polystyrene, boxes, and drink containers—has never been picked up by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) despite complaints being lodged.

The complainant further claimed that MBI only sent representatives to post warning notices to clean up the trash, but after several months, no action has been taken.

To make matters worse, the piles of trash have attracted pests like rats to the neighborhood, and recently, a neighbor’s pet cat was killed by a python.

“Furthermore, a neighboring house was also invaded by a python that killed a cat,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

“As residents here, we are worried about this issue. It’s not new; since last year, we have had to deal with the same problem.

“The occupant of this house is an elderly woman who is not in her right mind. She often collects trash from nearby neighbors’ houses and dumps it here.

“She usually collects trash and stores it in the house. She also often goes to the Taman Cempaka market in the morning to collect trash from MBI’s bins.

“This problem is distressing for residents around the house because there is a lot of trash that can attract pests, including those that carry dengue.

“There is trash with stagnant water in it. The Taman Cempaka area is often a hotspot for dengue outbreaks.

He explained that the woman does not always stay at the house as she often follows her child, who lives elsewhere.

As a result, neighbors are left to deal with the unpleasant smell and the potential risks.

He added that residents want MBI to take immediate action, to enter the yard of the house and clean up all the trash.

“Local residents have lodged complaints with MBI, but no action has been taken. MBI only sent representatives to post a notice, and after the notice expired, no action was taken.

“At night, rats are roaming around and entering nearby houses. We had previously reported the same issue in February involving the same house owner,” he added.

As such, he hopes the issue can be resolved quickly, as many will be affected, especially in terms of health and safety.
