101 Flood Victims Sheltered in Two Relief Centres in Gerik

GERIK: A total of 101 people from 37 families have been relocated to two temporary relief centres following flooding in the Hulu Perak district.

The floods were triggered by continuous heavy rain from Friday afternoon until late at night, causing water levels to rise in three villages.

According to the Perak State Disaster Management Operations Center (PKOB), another relief centre has been opened in Hilir Perak due to a fire incident, affecting 22 people from four families.

“The relief centres in Hulu Perak are located at SK Basia Lama and SMK Gerik.

“64 people from 21 families from Kampung Badaring and Kampung Sira Panas, while 37 people from 16 families from Kampung Padang have been sheltered.

“The relief centre in Hilir Perak, at Dewan MPTI Taman Desa Aman, involves those affected by the fire in Lorong 9, Taman Muhibbah, Teluk Intan,” the statement said here today.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast rain in almost all districts of Perak this afternoon and evening.
