IPOH – Participants from 21 countries will converge in Lenggong for the 9th edition of Rimba Raid Lenggong 2024 (RRL2024), organised by Rimba Adventures Sdn. Bhd.
This annual motorsport event is scheduled to take place from September 25 to September 29, 2024, at Tasik Raban, Lenggong, Perak.
Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Member of Parliament for Lenggong and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs stated that RRL2024 promises greater challenges and more demanding routes compared to previous editions.
“Rimba Raid is not just a race; it’s also a platform to showcase Malaysia’s natural beauty and rich biodiversity to both local and international tourists.
“The race will kick off with a prologue session on the first day, followed by Stage 1 and Stage 2, covering over 300 kilometres of off-road terrain, making it one of the most challenging off-road races in the region.
“This event not only tests physical and mental endurance but also offers breathtaking views of the 130-million-year-old forest reserves that participants will traverse,” he said during a press conference after the Pre-Launch Ceremony of the Rimba Raid 2024 program at Hard Rock Cafe, Ipoh, yesterday.
He further mentioned that Rimba Raid aims for a 75% finish rate this year, compared to a 50% success rate in securing finishers’ medals in previous races.
“In addition to offering thrilling race action, this event also contributes to the local economy. Over 100 residents will be employed as safety marshals, recovery workers, and rescue personnel.
“It is estimated that the contribution-to-expenditure ratio exceeds 10:1, making Rimba Raid a significant economic driver for the Lenggong area,” he added.
A total of 19 leading motorcycle brands are set to participate, including KTM, Harley Davidson, Yamaha, and Sherco.
The race has also garnered support from various sponsors, including Petronas, Michelin, Red Bull and others, who will showcase their products throughout the event.
Shamsul Anuar added that the event also prioritises environmental conservation with the collaboration of various government agencies, including the Perak State Forestry Department and Tourism Perak.
“Conservation measures such as tree planting and monitoring of the race routes will be implemented to ensure the sustainability of the natural environment.
